CraigCor expands weighing solutions

March 2010 Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring

Hardy Instruments partners with CraigCor Distribution to deliver Allen-Bradley compatible instrumentation.

Hardy Instruments and CraigCor Distribution have entered into an agreement to deliver industrial weighing equipment to the South African market. San Diego-based Hardy Instruments will work with CraigCor’s Bedfordview operation to promote the line of Allen-Bradley compatible process weighing and tension control instrumentation.

An ISO 9001 certified company, Hardy offers an extensive line of weight controllers, weight indicators, PLC plug-in scale modules, rate controllers, load cells and accessories for process control. This instrumentation is used in a variety of applications including mixing/blending, filling/dispensing, batching, check weighing, rate control and monitoring, level-by-weight, and force measurement. Weight data is easily transferred over the backplane directly to Allen-Bradley PLCs, via plug-in weigh scale modules, or over network interfaces such as Allen-Bradley Remote I/O, DeviceNet, EtherNet I/P, ControlNet, analogue or serial.

Hardy’s line of plug-in weigh scale modules read weight and diagnostic data supplied by load cells and communicate it over the I/O chassis backplane to the Allen-Bradley processor. These weigh scale modules reduce installation time and system costs, as the system needs no external standalone scale instrument with a wired communications link to the PLC. The HI-1746WS works with AB SLC 500 Series, the HI 1771-WS with AB Series 5 PLCs, the HI 1756-WS/-2WS with ControlLogix and the HI 1769-WS/-2WS for CompactLogix or MicroLogix1500.

Hardy Instruments, a Rockwell Automation Encompass Partner, is a leader in industrial weighing and tension control instrumentation, is well known for bringing innovative solutions to the process industry including WAVERSAVER technology, which ignores vibration for accurate weight readings, C2 Second Generation Calibration which allows calibration without the use of test weights, and INTEGRATED TECHNICIAN (IT) which facilitates troubleshooting from the instruments’ front panel, an HMI or over a network.
