Light weight GEMÜ 532
February 2010
Valves, Actuators & Pump Control
The GEMÜ 512 valve type with a robust aluminium piston actuator is now also available with newly developed globe valve bodies.
In order to distinguish the new valve type from the existing one, it was given the type number GEMÜ 532. As a first step nominal sizes DN 15-50 are available with valve bodies in 1,4408 stainless steel and GGG 40,3 SG iron (EN-GJS-400-18-LT). These new valve bodies enabled considerable material and weight saving whilst having the same strength. The Kv values have also been improved by up to 40% compared to existing the 512. The maximum operating pressure for nominal sizes DN 15-40 is 25 bar, for DN 50 it is 16 bar. The standard version of these valves can be used up to 180°C and the new PTFE gland packing for type 532 is steam resistant as standard. Versions for higher temperatures and with other seals are available on request. Connections available are flanges to EN 1092/PN 16 form B, length EN 558-1, series 1 and flanges to the same standard for PN 25.
The robust aluminium actuator used is a proven design on other GEMÜ products. This actuator is very popular in industries with difficult working environments. When paired with the GEMÜ 1435 positioner, protected by robust aluminium housings, all valves are very suitable for control and regulating tasks. All nominal sizes can be equipped with regulating cones with linear and 1:50 characteristics.
For nominal sizes DN 65 and DN 80 and for versions with 40 bar operating pressure type 512 is still available.
