Mechatronic modules position precisely

February 2010 Motion Control & Drives

Two new eLine Compact Modules have been added to Bosch Rexroth’s range of cost-effective pre-assembled linear solutions.

The eCKK is fitted with an eLINE ball screw and the eCKR with toothed belt drive. This simplifies the end user task of selecting the correct product for the application, as well as assembly and initial start-up. Each module is pre-fitted with a stepping motor which features 16 user programmable positions. Start-up is easily managed through a PC-based graphic interface, which uses downloadable pre-compiled parameter files.

The drives of the modules communicate with higher level control units via digital I/O. The axes can also work in standalone mode, independent of any additional PLC. To achieve target positions, the operator simply positions the linear system in jog-mode and then programs in the positions using the module’s teach function.

The connecting dimensions of the eLINE Compact Modules are identical to those of Rexroth’s existing standard Compact Modules. The pre-set pitch lengths with logically allocated order numbers simplify selection from among the many available strokes and lengths.

Two integrated backlash-free ball rails are used to ensure the smooth action of the carriage. With the innovative hybrid technology the rails combine the weight advantages of aluminium with the toughness of the hardened steel inserts. As such, the eLINE Compact Modules combine high travel velocities with high precision and quiet, smooth running for strokes of up to 1315 mm.

Factory lubricated for life, the modules can move up to a 15 kg payload with size 90 when working horizontally and up to a 30 kg payload with size 110.
