Festo has supplied MasterFoods Brazil Alimentos with MPA valve terminals that feature Ethernet/IP protocol. The MPA valve terminals, put to service in the company’s new production plant in Guararema, Brazil, are being used to improve the plant’s layout and maintenance programme.
MasterFoods Brazil Alimentos has implemented the Festo MPA valve terminals with Ethernet/IP protocol, on production equipment for Twix, Snickers and m&ms. A total of nine decentralised valve terminal modules are now installed. The greatest benefit of installing the MPA valve terminals is that the Ethernet/IP protocol works not only in the standard Ethernet network, but also enables connection to the Internet. This facilitates remote access which makes maintenance and technical planning easier.
Another important improvement resulting from the MPA valve terminal is the reduction in wiring. This has not only helped to improve the plant layout by reducing the number of PLC inputs, but also shortened installation time thus reducing costs.
