Class 2 LED power supply
January 2010
Electrical Power & Protection
In response to the increasing demands of LED and decorative lighting applications, MEAN WELL introduced another new AD/DC enclosed type LED power supply. The PLN-45 series 45W is enclosed in a fully isolated plastic case and incorporates active PFC (power factor correction) function for use in dustproof and waterproof applications. Including this new series, the PLN family can satisfy the demands of LED lighting from 30 to 100 W. These new power units comply with UL 1310 class 2.
Thanks to the simplified single stage PFC topology, the requirements for LED and decorative lighting, such as high power factor, cost effectiveness as well as EN61000-3-2 harmonic class C compliance, can be achieved economically (>75% loading). The operating efficiency of PLN-45 series is up to 87,5%, hence, they can be operated between -30 and +50°C with only free air convection cooling. Standard functions include, short circuit, over load, over voltage, and over temperature protections. To guarantee safety, these power supplies have TUV/UL/CUL/CE certification. AC input voltage range is 90–295 V.
