Monitoring and regulating H2 and helium

August 2009 Flow Measurement & Control

Bronkhorst High-Tech BV, low flow measurement and control specialists, have expanded the MASS-VIEW series mass flowmeters and regulators launched last year. An exhaustive engineering effort has ensured that the instruments can now be offered for use in hydrogen and helium applications.

MASS-VIEW flowmeters, the digital alternative to conventional variable area (VA) meters, incorporates a digital bar graph of actual gas flow visible from all angles using organic light emitting diode (OLED) technology. Also available with an optional in-built needle valve for flow control duties it is designed to mimic the straightforward features and vertical format of the VA meter. In addition it offers the added benefits of an electronic output signal, high measuring accuracy, virtual independence from gas temperature and pressure variations, freedom from parallax error and inherently safe construction with no glass components in the flow path.

The new MASS-VIEW instruments are suitable for flow rates from 25 mln/min (SCCM) to 100 ln/min (SLM) hydrogen or helium. The flowmeters offer selectable ranges via a user-friendly menu and 4-way navigation button. Applications can be found in laboratories and hospitals and also in production environments such as hydrogenation processes in the food industry and helium-cooling in welding systems.
