Level Measurement & Control

WIKA and KSR Kuebler

August 2009 Level Measurement & Control

It is the A-Team.

Since WIKA Germany took ownership of KSR Kuebler Germany in 2008, WIKA South Africa says it has made major inroads into the local market for magnetic level control equipment. With 12 branches in South Africa, a new subsidiary in Namibia and a large salesforce out in the field, the local subsidiary reports a very strong position in this market segment.

When operations began in August 2008, WIKA SA and KSR Kuebler hit the ground running and started to secure significant business almost immediately. Major users of this type of equipment around the country gave the WIKA/Kuebler combination an almost immediate vote of confidence by adding to their already large installed base of KSR Kuebler equipment through WIKA SA. The petrochemical industry is traditionally the largest user of magnetic level indicators, and this was confirmed again recently when a large petrochemical concern decided to replace its ageing sight glass level indicators with Kuebler magnetic level indicators. This multimillion rand project is now well underway and is set to continue into 2010. The business was secured not only by the quality and reputation on site of the Kuebler product, but also with pricing and professional support from the sales team at WIKA SA.

Further success is the supply of multiple Kuebler magnetic level indicators to a power station currently undergoing refurbishment. These magnetic indicators were purchased in favour of the traditionally used sight glass and pricing and the short delivery time of a large consignment secured the business. A well known gold mine recently decided to purchase a number of Kuebler level indicators for chemical storage tanks on its site. Among these are two units of seven metres in length, the longest instruments ever to be supplied by KSR Kuebler into South Africa.

WIKA SA says it presently finds itself as the most successful subsidiary in the WIKA group with respect to sales and distribution of the KSR Kuebler range. No other subsidiary has taken so well to this exciting addition to the global product offering and WIKA SA feels sure it will have a significant effect on the local market in years to come. The KSR Kuebler range has long been the yardstick against which all similar products have been measured and it continues to offer world-class quality and reliability. Now with the necessary financial muscle and infrastructure to support it, the product is poised to once again become the preferred product in its segment.

WIKA Germany is presently working hard to secure further interests in the KSR Kuebler Group in Europe, and exciting news regarding this venture will be made known in the future.
