Genflex positive on growth
May 2009
News
“2009 could well be the hardest year we have experienced in South Africa’s history for the manufacturing and mining industries. The supply of hydraulic equipment, spares and other commodities to these industries, keeps many small and medium middle sized companies in profitable business. I firmly believe that the shock of the downturn has still to hit the local market,” says David Michelle, director at Genflex Hydraulics, a leading South African supplier of hydraulic hose and fittings.
He adds that Genflex is looking at all areas to remain competitive and well stocked to supply any new business that can be acquired. Starting at the bottom of the company, the stores and assembly staff are continually being trained to a higher level. Technical sales staff, most of whom have been with the company for many years, are fully conversant with Genflex products and with the requirements of the market. The company’s middle management are extremely sales orientated as are the directors of Genflex.
“Our assessment of growth and profitability over the next 12 months remains positive. With such a highly rated team I believe we can capitalise in many areas of our market. Through no fault of their own, many smaller hose companies will find the environment in which they are operating continuing to be eroded. We believe that they are going to need the assistance of a larger supplier, such as ourselves, with our innovative ability to source at competitive prices.
“I am looking to meet our sales and profit budgets for 2009 and we will be successful because we will not accept anything less than the best from all of our staff as they continue to support our clients and potential customers,” he concludes.
