Bosch Projects goes global

Local leading sugar consultants, Bosch Projects, part of the B&A Group, has made front page news in Brazil’s media with the recent commissioning of the country’s first Bosch Dedini chainless diffuser that can process up to 12 000 tons of sugar cane per day.

This 12 m diffuser – with a capital value of almost R100-million – was installed at the Noroeste Paulista plant in Sebastianópolis do Sul in the state of São Paulo.

“This prestigious project is an important milestone for Bosch Projects, which opened an international company in Brazil’s São Paulo state just over a year ago,” says Mike Gibbon, managing director, Bosch Projects. “Bosch Projects do Brasil and Dedini Industrias de Base have established a solid relationship that is making a significant impact in Brazil’s thriving sugar industry. Bosch Projects and Dedini have concluded a long-term

licensing agreement, in terms of which Dedini has the South American rights to all of Bosch Project’s technology.”

According to Dedini’s vice president of technology and development, José Luiz Oliverio, the commissioning of this diffuser is an historic event for Brazil’s sugar and energy sectors. The investment in South African technology brings the world’s finest equipment to Brazil’s sugar sector.

The Bosch Projects chainless diffuser was developed in 2005 and the first installation was at the UCL mill in the KZN Midlands in 2006. The Bosch Dedini licensing agreement was signed in 2007 and Dedini sold nine chainless diffusers – worth an estimated R800-million – within a 12 month period. In 2009, Bosch Projects has contracted with Mozambique Principle Energy to supply the design for the 440 tons per hour chainless diffuser for its Dombe Ethanol plant near Beira.

Bosch Projects, which is well prepared for the start of the upcoming Brazilian sugar crop in April, is also focused on other global markets. Apart from local projects, the company is currently undertaking major work in Tanzania, Swaziland, Malawi, Mozambique, USA, Sudan, Barbados, Egypt, Mexico and Thailand.
