A new scanning principle for the pulse disc in shaft encoders has enabled Baumer Electric to make use of the smallest of housing designs, providing a convenient solution where space is restricted.
Good for use as a direct attachment to miniature motors, drive monitors in X-Y plotters, medical applications and miniaturised conveyor belt systems, the technology used is based on patented optical concepts of sub-micrometer range structures. A high integration density with new opto-ASICs allows angle step resolutions up to 2000 steps/rev - with a housing diameter of just 18 mm.
Available locally from Temperature Controls, this miniature encoder is offered in the same size in two versions: the BHM hollow shaft encoder with diameters from 1,5 to 3 mm and the BSM with a shaft diameter of 4 mm. Electrical output signals are also protected against undesirable short-circuits and are accessible through a MicroMatch socket. The maximum limit frequency is 100 kHz.
