Single source positioning solution introduced
April 2001
Motion Control & Drives
Festo, a specialist in the field of positioning, has recently launched its compact, fully digital SEC AC 305 and 508 electro-motor controllers.
Where servomotor shafts used to be controlled by analog speed controlling devices, the fast, digital and innovative SEC AC controllers are suitable for all electrical positioning shafts with toothed belts or spindles. The products are also well suited to any task relating to pick-and-place, assembly, palleting or handling.
A further advantage to the user is the idea of supplying motors and controllers as a fabricated drive package, making interfacing easier. As part of the overall system for 'positioning with electrical and pneumatic axis-drives', Festo offers a range coordinated from a single source, to the benefit of all its customers.
With universal power harmonisation, only two types of controller are now required to tackle any positioning task with the Festo axis-concept. Universal operating methods such as torque and speed controlling devices or autonomous positioning controllers make the SEC AC electromotor controller truly flexible, and reduce commissioning and purchasing costs. The SEC AC 305 extends to 1 kW and the SEC AC 508 to 4 kW.
Saving time was the main drive behind Festo's push to deliver complete solutions. With the SEC AC this means pre-fabricated cables, optimised axis-parameters supplied as standard for the entire Festo axis range, auto-identification for motors from other manufacturers, suitable flanges and couplings and user-friendly Windows software. Fast and easy commissioning is another objective achieved by the component producer through the incorporation of plug-and-play functionality into its products, making the SEC AC the reliable integrated solution for electrical applications. The picture shows the electromotor controller, type SEC AC 305/508: the control tool for electrical axis positioning with toothed belts and spindles.
