The first steps are the most important when it comes to planning metering points. An optimally dimensioned flowmeter at the right location provides many advantages:
* Consistent process quality.
* Diminished risk of instrument failure at a later time.
* Product savings due to error-free, precise measurement.
Proven over 20 years
Applicator is a software solution with a wealth of embedded industry experience and know-how for selecting and specifying flowmeters. It enables users with limited technical knowledge to specify metering points quickly and easily without time consuming research.
The most recent version of Applicator has a host of new functions, including selection modules for other areas covered by Endress+Hauser technology, namely: level; pressure; temperature and liquid analysis. These are designed to open up an enormous range of new application possibilities in metrology and control.
Straight to the objective
When starting out to select the ideal flowmeter, Applicator guides through all the important parameters. Users just enter the type of fluid, requisite process data or metering point attributes and Applicator responds with the measuring principles and families of meters best suited to the case in hand.
Sizing for safety
By entering further application-specific values, such as process pressure, process temperature or measuring range, Applicator determines the ideal flowmeter type along with the suitable nominal diameter, working range, pressure loss, accuracy, material loads, conformity with the pressure equipment directives (PED) and corrosion resistance. Messages and warnings make it easy to select the right meter, help avoid common mistakes and enable optimisation of the measuring point to suit specific requirements.
Data collection, archival and export
The use of additional expansion modules permits cost-savings in administration and documentation of data for entire plant projects:
* Clear presentation in a tree structure of any desired number of metering points (eg by building, floor, metering point) according to ISA 88;
* Uncomplicated inclusion of measuring devices directly from the selection and sizing functions;
* Detailed listing of project management data parameters;
* Multiple data exchange possibilities in Excel or XML format.
Advantages at a glance
Time savings
* Simple and quick sizing of flowmeters.
* No unnecessary searching for fluid data in reference works, over 300 fluids are stored in the database.
* Complete documentation for metering points and projects can be automatically generated.
Safety
* Clear, menu-driven user interface.
* Minimisation of risk through the display of application limits.
* High degree of operating safety through testing of various requirements.
Cost savings
* Single sizing program for all metering points in a project.
* Lower pump energy through optimal diameter sizing, measuring range and pressure loss.
* Product savings through optimisation of the measuring accuracy.
• Safeguarding of the product and process quality.
Applicator is available via the Internet or on CD-ROM for installation on a local PC.
