Well protected against lightning

Electrical Power & Protection
A surge protective device (SPD) protects installations like cellphone base stations, wind turbines, industrial facilities and offices against sudden surges in voltage and current caused by lightning strikes. DEHN, a leading producer of SPDs, has its products certified by Dutch-based test-house KEMA, giving the company easy access to the international market.
DEHN has been making SPDs for about half a century. The German manufacturer places great emphasis on quality in order to meet the expectations of its many clients around the world. Not only cellphone network operators, but also many other organisations that use sensitive electrical equipment or have a lot to lose from a power loss or voltage surge: including manufacturers and traders; oil and gas concerns and water companies.
Prior to launching a new SPD the device is tested by KEMA as prescribed in the EN61643-11 standard. Once certified the devices can be sold in Holland, and European CCA and international IEC-CB certification is simple through KEMA’s international reputation, giving DEHN access to the world market.
The company views the relationship with KEMA as strategic, since they are able to make use of KEMA’s international network which facilitates access to new markets, such as South Africa. An additional benefit is the broadening of in-house technical expertise through the interaction, strengthening DEHN’s ability to provide technical support to its worldwide customer base.
