The economically priced KA motor protection relay from NewElec is designed to protect pump motors while allowing the pump to operate at optimum efficiency. The motor is protected against overloads, phase unbalance, undercurrent, phase rotation, voltage phase symmetry and voltage violations. Protection current ranges from 0,1 to 200 A, while the integrated current transformers permit direct connection into the main circuit of the protected motor for currents up to 25 A.
Incorrect phase rotation will result in the phase rotation LED being illuminated and the main trip relay being de-energised. This prevents motor operation with incorrect phase sequence and resultant damage to the driven equipment through backward rotation. In the event of the main circuit voltage becoming less than 90% of the rated supply, a 10 second trip delay is initiated. Should thermal capacity be exceeded, the motor overload LED will illuminate, in place of the healthy indicator, and the main trip relay will be de-energised to stop the motor.
The small footprint makes the unit an ideal choice in space critical applications.
