Instrotech markets the Kobold KAL-D electronic flow monitor that finds service in all applications where flow currents with minimum pressure loss are to be accurately monitored. The one-part design of the measuring probe considerably reduces dirt sensitivity.

The model KAL-D operates according to the calorimetric principle. The sensor tip is heated to a few degrees above the temperature of the flowing medium. When the medium flows, heat generated in the probe is dissipated cooling the probe down. The degree of cooling is a precise measure of the flow velocity.

The sensor signal is compared with reference data stored in a microcontroller and a signal is generated when the desired flow velocity is reached. Simple calibration and optimal temperature compensation is achieved within the microcontroller. Switching range is 0,04–2 m/s with semiconductor output, PNP or NPN, N/C or N/O contact.

Temperature compensation in the KAL-D flow monitor is achieved using a microcontroller. All information necessary for temperature compensation is programmed at the factory, but the devices can easily be adjusted by the user to suit process conditions.

The stainless steel housing makes the unit suitable for operation in food or CIP cleaning environments.
