The Siemens TIA User Forum

September 2008 News

The important contribution of efficient and effective automation and plant intelligence in maintaining a competitive advantage and ensuring maximum profitability in the manufacturing arena will be highlighted at the eighth annual Siemens TIA (totally integrated automation) User Forum, to be held at Johannesburg’s Birchwood Conference Centre from 27 to 29 October 2009.

Focused on the benefits in productivity that can be achieved through the application of the totally integrated automation methodology, Des Burrows, business manager: Training at Siemens Industry Automation & Drives Technologies (A&D) says the TIA User Forum will cater for around 400 delegates who can view an exhibition of products and solutions, attend talks by several international guests speakers, and participate in a number of breakaway streams. As space is limited and delegates get ECSA accreditation, registration will be on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.

“The Siemens Totally Integrated Automation User Forum is the ideal event for customers, partners, industry thought-leaders and Siemens professionals to assemble under one roof, and affords automation and control professionals the opportunity for discussion and networking around the challenges and strategies faced in today’s productivity driven economy,” says Burrows.

“A perennial highlight of the TIA Times User Forum is the Gala Dinner, an occasion where besides recognising our Top Performing Siemens Partners with their awards, will also host the finals of the ever-popular Cyber Junkyard competition, where some of the country’s leading tertiary institutions will be displaying their projects for this year,” says Burrows.

Centred on the theme of the totally integrated automation methodology which, when implemented, minimises complexity and translates into increased productivity, Burrows says international guest speakers from Europe and North America will be presenting expert topics covering the latest trends and products in factory and process automation, safety, energy saving, as well as electrical and drives technology.

“Delegates can choose to attend eight break-away streams with detailed presentations, workshops and training sessions all aimed at improving their knowledge and equipping them with insights into the latest trends and developments in the field of automation,” he says.

According to Burrows, with its unique blend of education, networking, best practice sharing, and technology, engineers who are responsible for the selection, design, engineering, maintenance, integration, operation, or justification for automation and electrical technologies and products will greatly benefit from attending the TIA User Forum.

“The conference programme covers the complete spectrum of automation from process to motion control and drives; all connected to business through manufacturing execution systems,” he says. “Therefore, the most important aspect of the entire forum is that it is designed to help transform the future of business by increasing productivity by minimising complexity.”
