Portable pump stations launched

Valves, Actuators & Pump Control
Chick Henderson, a leading supplier of industrial pumps and hoses, has developed a revolutionary range of modular pump stations. These self-contained pump stations, housed in appropriately reinforced shipping containers, are easily transported and installed on site.
"Once suction and delivery connections and electrical site connections are complete, they are ready to go," said Project Engineer Gideon van Niekerk. Standard models are capable of pumping 2,5 Ml of water an hour at head pressures in excess of 10 bar, but specifications can be altered to suit client requirements. All fabrication takes place at the company's factory in Benrose.
Options include Siemens industrial cellular monitoring systems which measure operating and environmental conditions, and prompt appropriate corrective action.
"There are a number of advantages to these pump stations," said van Niekerk: "Because they are built in our factory rather than on site, construction costs are significantly reduced. And while installation is still dependent on the completion of the necessary civil engineering projects, delivery of the pump stations can be timed to coincide, so there are no delays."
Another important benefit is its transportability - especially in the light of the recent floods in Mpumalanga. If one of these pump stations is threatened, it can be fairly easily moved out of harm's way. Chick Henderson will be showcasing these modular pump stations at Afriwater 2001 (South Africa's international water, waste and environmental exhibition) at Gallagher Estate in Midrand from 15-17 August next year. "We chose to exhibit at Afriwater because the show is specifically focused on our target market, and attracts significant backing from government and the public sector in general," said van Niekerk.
Public sector support of Afriwater received a boost recently when it was endorsed by the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry (DWAF). The Water Institute of Southern Africa (WISA) has endorsed the event for a number of years.
Companies interested in exhibiting at Afriwater 2001 should contact Craig Newman at Reed Exhibition's Johannesburg offices, telephone: (011) 886 3734; fax: (011) 781 1270; or [email protected]
