Clean steam generator
August 2008
Pneumatics & Hydraulics
Spirax Sarco’s CSM-C compact clean steam generator is designed to produce steam to the stringent standards required for sterilisation when supplied with feedwater of the required quality. In addition to using materials and work processes that comply with all relevant standards, the units ensure control of water particles transported during the evaporation process. This permits the flow rate of entrained particles to be constrained within established limits, both in the static phase and during periods of high instantaneous demand. Designed and built in accordance with PED 97/23/EC ensures that traceable manufacturing documentation for plant audit trail purposes can be supplied on request. It is designed for use on Group 2 fluids (steam, air and water) designated within Category III and as such is CE marked.
The CSM-C is designed to produce maximum output utilising minimum footprint, thus saving on plant floor space. A standard range of outputs up to 600 kg/h ensures that systems are available to cater for a variety of customer requirements. Additionally, special outputs can be considered upon request. The systems are delivered as a pre-assembled factory tested package for minimal installation time. PLC control ensures quick, simple commissioning and accurate operation, while a touch-screen visual display allows easy access to operating parameters.
Modular design enables the inter-connection of multiple units
All parts wetted by feedwater and clean steam are manufactured from 316L stainless steel, ensuring corrosion resistance from treated water as well as avoiding contamination of the clean steam supply. The units feature a pre-heat tank to raise the treated feedwater to a high temperature ensuring the removal of soluble gases prior to entering the boiler.
The CSM-C has been designed and tested to the requirements of HTM 2031 and is also in compliance with EN285. Typical applications include sterilisation, SIP, clean room humidification, food contact applications and laundries.
