metsoDNA CR installed at a butter and spreads plant
Metso Automation will supply Finland’s largest dairy business, Valio Oy, a new metsoDNA CR automation system as part of a €40 million large-scale investment programme at its Seinäjoki plant. The complete automation delivery also includes installation and cabling with field instrumentation and electrical equipment in MCCs. A total of nine commissioning stages for the project will lead to completion by the end of 2009.
All 7300 process connections are fieldbus based with DNAfieldAssessor providing configuration and maintenance capability for field equipment. In addition to the four operator stations in the main control room, six local terminals close to particular processes are supported. The new plant will be located in a new building of nearly 8000 square metres to be constructed next to the current plant.
Built in 1979, the Seinäjoki plant produces all Valio's butter and spreads as well as housing a powder plant, drying more than 20 million kilos of milk powders a year. The new investment will raise production capacity for butter and spreads along with the continuously growing range and volume of other value added dairy products.
