The following MERSETA accredited courses are available from Festo Didactic in July 2008:
Pneumatics Basic: Includes the objectives of low cost automation, pneumatic symbols and other general pneumatic principles and will run from 30 July-1 August in Johannesburg, 2-4 July in Cape Town, 9-11 July in Port Elizabeth and 23-25 July in Durban.
Pneumatics Advanced: Includes the specific application of actuators and valves and concepts like cascade circuit design and will run from 30 July-1 August in Cape Town.
Pneumatic Maintenance: Includes a revision of basic pneumatics, followed by more advanced subjects, such as air preparation and layout, and will run from 9-11 July in Durban and 16-18 July 16 in Johannesburg.
Electro – Pneumatics: Includes a revision of electrical principles, electrical and pneumatic symbols and standards followed by practical exercises and will run from 16-18 July 16 in Cape Town.
Mechatronics 1: Includes function and application of actuators, application and selection of sensors, role of controllers and control software, system integration and documentation as well as case studies and networking and will run from 22-25 July in Johannesburg.
Mechatronics 2: Includes a review on control technologies and furthers practical skills, such as downloading software to a PLC with diagnostics and interpreting technical specifications. It will run from 1-4 July in Johannesburg.
Principles of Industrial Measurement, Control and Instrumentation: This new course combines theory with practice, including basic electrical principles, identification and measurement of analogue and digital signals, process variables, measurement principles, open and closed loop systems, analytical measurement, process sensors, valves and pumps and will run from 9-11 July 9 in Johannesburg.
