A year has passed since the opening of Zimbabwean-based automation engineering company, Autocontrol Systems, which was elected to be the official distributor for South African-based scada (supervisory control and data acquisition) company, Adroit Technologies.
Autocontrol Systems originated from the desire of veteran KZN-based Adroit System Integrator, Autotronix Automation & Control, to create a solid base in Zimbabwe for the distribution of their automation product range. The offering includes Adroit, PLCs and their locally developed Microcon energy management products. The company of 10 is headed up by Mr Adam Muhita, an electrical engineer, who has aimed to provide turnkey solutions in the process control and monitoring environments. Particular focus has been on the mining and food and beverage industries. Muhita said that Autocontrol Systems is looking forward to expanding to other process environments in 2001 with specific emphasis on energy management and factory automation.
The Adroit scada product has been well received by Zimbabwean industry; this has been attributed to the products' reliability, affordability and excellent back-up service. Autocontrol Systems is hosting a series of breakfasts throughout Zimbabwe during March 2001 at which Adroit Technologies Managing Director Dave Wibberley will demonstrate the functionality of the recently launched Adroit Version 4.2.
