Process transmitter scales new heights

Sartorius Hamburg has further expanded its range of automated weighing technology through rigorous analysis of changing customer requirements and emerging technical trends. In response to market pull, the PR5210 range of process transmitters now offers three options with selectable levels of functionality. The original version with serial port and three digital I/Os is still available, but is now offered with higher resolution and accuracy. Interface options have been extended to provide the choice of 4–20 mA analog output or a high-speed Profibus DP interface. The fully-equipped version is fitted with both.

Essential changes to the series can be summarised as follows:

* Ruggedness of design and reliability have been enhanced.

* Improved diagnosis capabilities have been incorporated in the measuring circuits.

* The power supply has been fitted with reverse polarity protection.

* Adjustment for fine tuning has been added to supplement factory calibration.

* SMA standard protocols have been supplied for easy interfacing.

* Encrypted data transmission is available for legal-for-trade applications.

* The suite of Windows configuration tools has been enhanced in response to demand.

The extension of functionality and flexibility of choice has enabled end users to tailor design decisions more precisely to their specific application requirements.
