Festo has announced the launch of MPA multipin modules. The MPA valve terminal is suited for universal application in all areas of automation technology. With this addition, the multipin modules can be precisely tailored to meet specific customer requirements. The benefits include cost and space savings, terminals that can be easily expanded and easy servicing with easily replaceable valves.
MPA modules are ideal for use in special machine construction
The key to the modularity of the series is its optimised design. The electrical links between the valve sub-bases no longer consist of a fixed-grid PCB but of circuit boards which can be combined by means of plug connectors. The major advantage is that multipin terminals can now be easily equipped with up to 24 single-solenoid valves or 12 double-solenoid valves and can be expanded or modified as desired.
A variety of flow rates can be combined on one terminal. This means that users do not need to be governed in their choice of valve model by the needs of the largest load device in their system. Valves can be selected individually, giving precisely the performance which is actually required in a more compact valve terminal.
There is a wide choice of functionality from 5/3-way valves to 2 x 3/2-way valves, all the variants are available. Pressure supply plates and separating seals can be used to produce differing pressure zones, even after installation. With large terminals, additional pressure supplies ensure that all components have sufficient air at all times.
The all-metal valve bodies and sub-bases ensure robustness and long service life. Despite this, they are compact and require little installation space. One useful service available to users before valve terminals are installed is FACE, a free-of-charge order configuration tool, which facilitates the selection of valve terminals.
