The Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sector Educational Training Authority (MERSETA) has awarded Schneider Electric South Africa (SESA) full accreditation status for its power logic control (PLC) courses.
MERSETA accredits education and training providers, monitors the provision of training, registers assessors, collaborates with other education and training quality assurance bodies and reports to the South African Qualifications Authority.
For any training provider to get accredited, stringent quality requirements have to be met, requiring the inspection of training centre, training equipment, internal processes, record keeping and the qualifications of the training providers.
Training manager Jimmy Stoltz says: "Not many people know how much hard work and time goes into this sort of process, and today, after six years of applications, we are proud that our training is finally accredited."
"Companies and individuals can now utilise SESA courses with the knowledge that they are receiving training of the highest calibre. By using an accredited training provider they can claim back a percentage of the money paid for the course," but Jimmy points out, "electrical engineering students taking SESA PLC courses will earn 20 credits on level 4, thus enhancing their qualifications and skills."
Having existed in South Africa for more than 30 years, SESA has educated participants from most sectors in the industry. The company has structured its courses to cover aspects ranging from basic general knowledge to advanced leading edge technology in the field. Hands-on practical exercises form an integral part of all SESA courses to ensure that participants gain real-world value from the courses.
