Endress+Hauser's new Micropilot S microwave level measurement transmitter expands the applications range of the Micropilot family through enhanced performance. The instrument, which features an accuracy to within 1mm of reading, is ideal for applications requiring higher accuracy level measurements such as storage tanks in tank farms and petrochemical refineries.
In a typical storage tank with a diameter of 30 m, a difference of 1 mm can equal 1000 litres of product. The ability to monitor continuously with such high accuracy is thus paramount in reducing product wastage and operating costs.
The Micropilot S features the same electronics as the Micropilot family and has a measuring range up to 38 m. The unit can operate at process pressures up to 6 800 kPa (68 bar) and temperatures from -40 to +200°C. It incorporates HART communication and ATEX, FM, CSA and Eex ia certification for use in hazardous areas.
The instrument is available in a free space version as well as a bypass/stilling well version, for stilling well diameters from DN150 to DN300, for use in tanks where the product is subjected to surface rippling. The unit can be connected to the tank side monitor which operates as an output for the device, providing calculation and communication functions using all industry standard protocols.
