Phoenix Contact's FL Switch SFN GT product range provides fast, cost-efficient network expansion down to field level via Gigabit Ethernet. The gigabit speed facilitates advanced realtime functions and high data throughput. The switches' compact housings make them suitable for universal, localised use in control cabinets and in terminal boxes.
Each switch provides up to eight gigabit-enabled RJ45 ports. The components support auto-negotiation at transmission rates of 10, 100, and 1000 Mbps in mixed mode. This allows the coupling of network segments or end devices with identical or differing data transmission rates. Auto-crossing renders a differentiation between 1:1 and crossover types of cable superfluous. The switches automatically detect the assignment of the Ethernet cables and adjust accordingly. Using the fibre-optic cable ports, a network's segment length can be extended up to 20 kilometres. Unoccupied switch ports can be mechanically locked to guard against unauthorised use. Occupied ports meet LAN Security Level 1, as they can also be locked to guard against unauthorised removal of network connections.
