I/O system stays out in the cold
June 2007
Fieldbus & Industrial Networking
Since its market introduction in 1995, the Wago-I/O-System 750 has morphed into one of the most important modular fieldbus systems for industry, production and process automation. It enables the cost and space saving assembly of fieldbus nodes with free combination of digital, analog or complex modules.
The standard operating temperature range for this system is 0°C to +55°C, which is more than sufficient for most industrial applications. However, some applications, especially in outdoor areas, make higher demands. Examples are the control and monitoring of electrical point heaters or the lighting of cargo areas. Some components of the System 750 can now face this challenge and can be used in temperatures from -20°C up to +60°C. This achievement required continuous development (eg, in the module selection), proper design and material selection with no compromises in the application of lacquered PCBs and continuous diligence in production.
