Universal drive for distributed motor control

April 2007 Motion Control & Drives

Technosoft has successfully applied its MotionChip DSP control technology to develop the new ISM4803 intelligent servo module, a member of the fully digital cost-effective OEM product family developed on customer requirements.

This high-performance intelligent module is a true universal drive covering all applications for AC and DC brushless, DC brush and step motors up to 150 W (48 V, 3 A). It is designed to embed motion control, drive and PLC functionalities in a single open frame unit (size: 64 x 104 x 16 mm, card format).

ISM4803 is programmable with Technosoft motion language (TML) and graphical tools in standalone or multi-axis configurations. Torque, speed, position, contouring, profiling, e-cams and step motor emulation are the multimode motion operations of this servo module. Typical feedback devices include tacho generators, incremental encoders, digital or linear Halls.

Motion control libraries C++, Delphi, Visual Basic and PLCopen libraries for various PLCs are available for an easier integration of ISM4803 into customers' applications. Featuring RS232 communication by default, the optional CAN version of the ISM4803 will provide advanced distributed motor control functions like electronic gearing or e-CAM.

Cost optimised design and networking possibilities make ISM4803 a good value universal drive solution that is suitable for systems with distributed motor control intelligence, packaging equipment, printing, textile, automotive, pick-and-place or factory automation applications, etc. Custom hardware and firmware options are also available upon request.
