Siemens releases new system for power distribution in aggressive environments

February 2007 Electrical Power & Protection

Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) is replacing the previous polyester-based PEC system of the Sivacon 8PS busbar trunking system with the new LR system featuring an enclosure made of epoxy cast resin. This product is designed for use outdoors as well as in aggressive environments with high atmospheric humidity and salinity levels. This busbar trunking system has significantly higher elasticity and transmits power for rated currents of 630 to 6300 A.

The close proximity of the conductors to each other and their arrangement result in a minimum voltage dip along lengthy power transmission paths. Type-tested connection of the LR and LX systems is possible using a transition element which changes the Sivacon 8PS into an integrated busbar trunking system for both outdoor and indoor applications.
