Head-mounting transmitter offers full range with clean signal

January 2001 Temperature Measurement

New microprocessor-based, head-mounting transmitters with isolated 4-20 mA signals, are now available locally from Temperature Controls. The uTXL Series is PC programmable, enabling easy conversion of various input signals into a scalable 4-20 mA analog output signal that is free from interference.

Offering high accuracy in a wide ambient temperature range, uTXL transmitters are CE, NAMUR and EMC approved. Online configuration can be achieved with a uTXL-PSW configuration kit, and even during measurement, the SETUP connector can be used for online configuration. Installation is facilitated with easy-to-access terminal connections for power supply, current output and sensor connection.

The transmitters cater for wide ranging temperatures - from -270° to 1372°C, giving users a single stock item for strategic spares requirements. When required, units can also be supplied with customer specific measurement range settings. "Our ability to supply these transmitters locally means a more cost-effective product for our customers and is further evidence of our active program of sourcing better value and better quality for our customers on an ongoing basis," states Andy Brown of Temperature Controls.

Requiring only low-cost cables for installation, these transmitters convert temperature signals into current signals that can then be sent over 1 km to a control room for a cost-effective and reliable solution to temperature measurement needs.
