Valves, Actuators & Pump Control

Valve and actuator CD-ROM available

January 2001 Valves, Actuators & Pump Control

Mitech has a CD-ROM for use by existing and potential users of Mitech valves and actuators. While the main purpose is to promote the company and its product range, there is a wealth of technical information included to make the CD a useful tool to all people involved with valves and actuators. Mitech's control valve sizing program (Cv Size) as well as other technical programs can be either run from the CD or downloaded onto a PC.

The flange drilling program displays the hole patterns for all popular standards from 10 to 1000 mm. A useful feature is the ability to identify flange drillings from measured data - for example, by entering the distance between two adjacent holes and the number of holes all possible solutions are listed. The more data entered the narrower the choice becomes.

There is a conversion program that enables the user to convert from one set of units to another - including 'normal' flow rates to 'standard' for gases and vapours.

To help users determine the correct ANSI pressure rating for an application, a simple program has been supplied where the material type is selected along with the design pressure and temperature. The program then recommends the appropriate ANSI rating that is suitable together with the calculated safety factor. Steam tables have been provided that list many properties of steam and water for given pressures and temperatures.

A dynamic Excel spreadsheet is included to assist with valve type selection. Specifying process conditions by means of drop-down combo-boxes, all unsuitable valve types disappear leaving only those that can be considered. An indication of relative price is shown assisting with the final choice. For those involved with desuperheaters there is a spreadsheet that calculates the quantity of spray water to be added for different process conditions.

Also shown on the CD is a video clip of the factory. All product brochures, maintenance manuals and technical bulletins are available for viewing, downloading or printing. The free CDs are available from all Mitech offices
