No more grounding rings and electrodes

Krohne has announced that it has succeeded in setting a new standard with regard to electromagnetic flowmeters. With the 'virtual reference' concept developed for the IFC 300 converter, costly grounding rings or electrodes for tubes with liners are no longer required.

In applications with products having high electrical potential, electrochemical reactions may cause damage to the grounding electrodes which may even lead to leakages. This cannot happen with a virtual grounding as grounding rings or electrodes are superfluous.

The advantages of the virtual reference are due to the completely isolated electronics. This means that there are no equalising currents, and any risk of electrochemical reactions is eliminated.

Virtual reference will be available for minimum conductivities starting at 200 µS/cm and sensors with DN 10 and above.
