Water treatment plant demonstrated excellent CitectSCADA application

October 2006 SCADA/HMI

Citect is proud to announce the first winner of its CitectSCADA Best User Interface Design Award. Citect partner, Hydro-Trent, was selected from numerous entries from around the world for its outstanding application in the Sungai Semenyih Water Treatment Plant for Konsortium ABASS in Malaysia. Hydro-Trent is a Malaysian-owned company specialising in the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of instrumentation control systems.

The winner was selected by online voting and a panel of judges. Creativity, design and excellence in application of CitectSCADA were among the many factors that contributed to Hydro-Trent winning the award.

Hydro-Trent believes its exceptional user interface was in part due to the solid architecture of CitectSCADA. "The reporting aspect of CitectSCADA enables us to design a customised format for our end users, according to their requirements. Its ability to generate production reports daily, means operators no longer need to compile reports and have more time to allocate to plant maintenance," says June Loh, software engineer, Hydro-Trent.

The intuitive look and feel of the CitectSCADA system designed by Hydro-Trent makes it very easy to navigate. The operators did not require extensive training to learn the system, and the high-quality graphics portraying different sections of the plant enables them to easily monitor its operations.

"It is very useful for the operators to know the plant status. Immediate warnings can be checked and rectified through CitectSCADA. We can immediately understand the status of the plant operation by looking at the graphic pages since they have been designed to follow the actual structure layout," says Ahmad Rosli, production manager, Sungai Semenyih Water Treatment Plant, Konsortium ABASS.

"We are very pleased to honour Hydro-Trent with the CitectSCADA Best User Interface Design Grand Award. We received so many impressive entries from all over the world, that it is truly a pleasure to select the best of the best," says Stephen Flannigan, SCADA global director, Citect.
