Software for data exchange with Profibus slaves
September 2006
Fieldbus & Industrial Networking
The new Profibus Master Simulator is a combination of a UART adapter and the Profibus Master Simulator Software. The Profibus Master Simulator is an easy-to-use software for data exchange with Profibus slaves. Data exchange with the slaves can be done without GSD file. The simulator also has the ability to process GSD files.
User parameters can be edited and configurations can be modified and stored. The Profibus Simulator can scan the entire Profibus network for connected slaves and represent them graphically.
The UART is an ideal converter between Profibus slave and RS232 interface, which is connected directly to the Profibus slaves. The I/O data and Profibus user diagnostic can be displayed in binary, hexidecimal and ASCII code. The new version of the Profibus Simulator supports Profibus DP V1. The Profibus slave can operate an acyclic mode DP V1, which is helpful for commissioning complex field devices. DLL drivers for Windows 95/98/2000/XP and Windows NT is supported by the program.

Loop signature Part 2-2: Feedforward Control: Part 1
Michael Brown Control Engineering
Fieldbus & Industrial Networking
Feedforward control is a powerful technique that can dramatically improve control variance in cases where load changes cause big deviations from setpoint and the actual process dynamics are too slow to allow the feedback controller to operate fast enough to catch these disturbances.
