Clean service control valves for contamination-free applications

August 2006 Valves, Actuators & Pump Control

Spirax-Sarco's Steri-Trol is a reliable, pneumatically operated, two-port angle pattern clean service control valve. The angled design allows the valve to self-drain, ensuring that there are no areas where the media can accumulate and create a potential for contamination.

Steri-Trol is crevice-free and is mechanically polished to 0,4 microns resulting in a smooth finish that promotes cleanliness and eliminates contamination from pyrogens. The valve is supplied with industry standard control interface devices, including a stainless steel positioner.

Steri-Trol is available in DN15 to DN100 valve sizes with a choice of equal percentage, linear or fast opening flow designs. Various options include reduced flow, micro-flow and a Class V1 soft seal. Manufactured in 316L stainless steel, Steri-Trol meets PN16 requirements and has a maximum operating temperature of 170°C.

A double stem seal protects the valve from contamination and damage, providing a longer stem seal life and reduced maintenance. The one-size stem seal is suitable for all sizes of valves resulting in reduced spares stock holding. A sanitary clamp retains the body and bonnet connection allowing the valve to be quickly and easily opened for inspection and maintenance, minimising any process downtime. Developed from the proven Spirax-Sarco rolling diaphragm actuator range, the actuator has a long life design resulting in reduced maintenance and less interruption to the process.

The clean service control valve is ideal for use in the food, brewing and beverage, and pharmaceutical industries, as well as in clean steam, pure steam and SIP/CIP applications.
