With four RJ-45 connectors for RS232 communication, Advantech's new PCI-1610AJU is designed for applications that require many RJ-45 connections. The card's interface is universal PCI for compatibility with old 3,3 V as well as new 5 V PCI BUS, and with a length of only 123 mm, the card helps create more compact installations. The card is also the first serial communication from Advantech that supports Microsoft Windows XP Embedded.
With several customers having to use RJ-45 to DB9 converters in their space-demanding ATM applications, Advantech saw the need for a new card with RJ-45 connectors. The new PCI-1610AJU removes the need for these converters, which cuts costs and makes wiring easier. Many system integrators design ATM systems, where compactness and easy installation is crucial.
Although the card is designed for RJ-45 connector requirements, the card also comes with four RJ-45 to DB9 cables. Four PCI-1610AJU cards can be used simultaneously to connect up to 16 devices. The universal PCI interface features plug-and-play, for easy installation in both 3,3 and 5 V PCI BUS. With Advantech's bundled ICOM Tools software and LEDs on the RJ-45 connectors, the user can test the PCI card's performance by analysing the status of the ports, and easily configure the settings of the card.
