A new module was recently added to the PSR safety relay product family from Phoenix Contact: the PSR-ESD-300 with safe contacts and dropout delay. It is suitable for applications requiring delayed contacts such as locked protective covers or dynamic processes. The safety relays can be used in emergency cut-outs according to the European Standard EN 418 and in safety circuits according to the European Standard DIN EN 60204-1/VDE 0113 Part 1.
These narrow safety relays (45 mm) accommodate three enable-current paths as well as signalling current contacts with un-delayed dropping in accordance with safety category 4 of European norm EN 954-1. Additionally there are two delayed enable current paths with delay times adjustable from 0,2 to 300 s using DIP and rotary switches. For protection against undesired changes once in operation, these switches located on the top of the housing can be covered with the label provided.
The relay can be controlled using one or two channels as desired. The module starts automatically or manually once the safety inputs have been enabled. A connected start button is monitored for correct operation, this means that failures are safely recognised. Electrical connections are pluggable, screw or spring cage connectors.
