The G3 series HMI now offers a richer trend viewer. The Show Data property allows the viewer to automatically display the tags being monitored, right on the viewer. This saves time when creating screens for datalogging applications, as the programmer does not even have to place the tags on the screen.
The values can even be programmed to disappear until such time that Cursor Mode is invoked. The Cursor Mode allows the operator to see the exact values of the tags historically. By touching the viewer, the cursor appears on the nearest data points, and the aforementioned data tags display the values at that point in time. The cursor also displays the exact time the data was stored, and may be moved left or right via the viewers buttons. This feature is invaluable when more accuracy is needed than a simple line graph can offer, such as when process disturbances need evaluation. A push of the 'live' button returns the viewer to its normal functions.
