Video for high-temperature processes

Durag's Orfeus Video system allows direct and touch-free online observation, evaluation and measurement of different high-temperature processes. Operators are supplied with coloured pictures and data to successfully control the process.

Online evaluation of high-temperature processes is possible, including obtaining the required data on time and location. Any changes in the process can be documented, analysed and subjected to quality assurance testing at any given time.

Water and/or air-cooled stainless steel lances are deployed for data recording in the hot areas of the process. The endoscope, built at the end of the lance, is used as a lens for the CCD camera and has a protective housing. In order to represent the temperature distribution within the observation area, the video picture is transformed into a pseudo-colour picture.

A specially designed flange may be used in order to mount the lance. Alternatively, the lance may be automatically displaced forward and backward by using a special retracting device. Monitoring circuits provide indication so that action may be taken to prevent the components from overheating.

Picture analysis is carried out on a Linux operated system in the process control room. Process signals can be acquired directly via a Profibus interface or wired input boards, and the relevant data and pictures will be displayed on a screen with a monitoring interface.
