Universal pump control with new pump manager

December 2005 Valves, Actuators & Pump Control

With the introduction of its RMM621 compact DIN rail mounted device, Endress+Hauser now offers a universal pump control solution that includes remote transmission of counter and alarm conditions. The modular plug-in card concept allows for flexible adaptation of the unit to the individual requirements from wastewater treatment plants, water plants, breweries and pumping stations.

The RMM621 contains three different control modes. These operate time-dependent (alternating) pump control, a sequential controlled pump management (from filling and emptying tanks and sumps) and a hydrocyclic-jet control function (cleaning). Because the RMM621 can monitor three applications simultaneously, it is possible to combine these independently.

The device simultaneously monitors four feedback signals from each pump (pump on, pump alarm, pump blocked, pump not available), using the unit's digital inputs. Values and messages are shown on the display, which changes colour from blue to red on user defined set point violations. Up to 19 relays are available for switch sequences.

Features include pump operating time counter, pressure-, level-, and flow sensor (integration) monitoring and up to 10 independent analog signals (intrinsically safe inputs optional). RMM621 also features loop power supplies, log-book function, modem transmission of counters and measured values, alarm set point management, tele-alarm (SMS) on fault condition. Local data storage and monitoring all input signals guarantee a safe process. The controller is easily commissioned and set-up using the pushbuttons and display, RS232/485, and ReadWin 2000 PC software, which saves on complicated programming. The pump manager is also available without display/pushbuttons, featuring a remote panel mounted (144 x 72 mm) display and operating module.
