Scada toolbox product support

October 2005 SCADA/HMI

Software Toolbox, a leading supplier of complementary products for industry-leading automation software solution vendors, announced at Futuristix-Wonderware's industrial automation showcase at Sun City that the company now fully supports the latest version of Wonderware's world-leading HMI/scada solution, InTouch. InTouch Version 9.5 is soon to be released by Wonderware.

Software Toolbox is represented in South Africa by Futuristix, principal SA distributor of the Wonderware range of industrial automation and MES solutions and a member of the EOH group of companies.

In May 2004, Wonderware released Version 9.0 of InTouch with SmartSymbols. "SmartSymbols represent an enormous advancement in the creation, deployment and modification of graphical elements within an application," says Justin Tweedie, business unit head at Futuristix. "Using the SmartSymbol Manager, application developers can create templates from graphics that can connect to ArchestrA Objects, local InTouch tags and InTouch tags through remote references. These symbol templates are saved in the SmartSymbol Library and can be instantiated by selecting them and dropping them onto an InTouch window."

"We are committed to the Wonderware market and are involved in the InTouch 9.5 beta programme," says John Weber, president of Software Toolbox. "Our support engineers began testing with InTouch 9.5 when the first beta version was released on 8 April, 2005, and are presently going through a full suite of tests. So far we have encountered no issues and are pleased to announce that TOP Server's currently shipping version 4.160.317 supports InTouch 9.5."

TOP Server is the industry leading connectivity solution for ArchestrA and InTouch with applications around the world including many in South African industries. Software Toolbox's popular InTouch add-ins; Silent Partner Wizard Library, Gadget Wizards for Wonderware, Silent Partner Runtime System, Alarm Blaster and IntraVUE now also support InTouch 9.5. About Wonderware's InTouch

With 20,5% of the world's HMI market (39% more than its nearest rival), Wonderware is ideally poised to bring a new paradigm of intelligent control to the industrial automation industry. Wonderware's hallmarks of ease-of-use, scalability and upgradability means that a substantial portion of the world's HMI/scada community will enjoy a painless migration from InTouch 9.0 to 9.5 and reach a new level of process control intelligence within the ArchestrA industrial automation framework. InTouch 9.0 software was also the first HMI to achieve the 'Designed for Windows XP' certification from Microsoft.
