Eplan is a design tool that was developed by electrical engineers, for electrical engineers, rather than just a modified mechanical drawing package with plug-ins and work-arounds.

Once defined, Eplan 5.70 cable connections may be re-used - for rapid results. There are convenient navigation filters for assembly-friendly installation, optimised device concept and the support of parallel working during the concept development phase.

Physically, Eplan performs automatic device tagging, automatic wire numbering, automatic cross-referencing (page-to-page), automatic cross-referencing (coils to contacts - and many other key electrical logic functions), automatic cross-referencing of PLC connection to PLC overview, automatic generation of bills of materials, wirelists, terminal diagrams, PLC overviews, cable diagrams, etc.

The Eplan support offered includes intelligent contactor selection, intelligent page management, intelligent PLC numbering, online navigation tools, online terminal strip editor, online cable list editor, online contactor editor, online connector editor - and electrical potential assignment capability.

The user-friendly system automatically generates all the popular output formats (DWG, DXF, DWF, PDF, HTML, etc), it provides automated error checking, the symbols, forms and frames to international standards, such as ANSI, IEC, DIN, JIC.
