Pneumatic rotary actuators

Valves, Actuators & Pump Control
Mitech's Pneumatic Rotary Actuators feature a choice of mechanisms between crank arm and scotch yoke designs. The crank arm is suitable for modulating control and provides high run torques, low friction and negligible backlash. The scotch yoke provides greater torque in the end positions making it well suited for most on/off duties. The actuators are easy to assemble and disassemble due to their single spring design. Various sizes are available, and to assist with easy selection, a Mitech sizing program is available.
Due to their square drives, the actuators can be mounted perpendicular to, or in-line with the pipework. The devices are field reversible from clockwise-to-close to clockwise-to-open permitting base mounting of the actuator, irrespective of valve type and fail action.
When the units are operating with a double acting fail action, all the power available is at the shaft, as torque output. Fail action on the double acting actuator can be obtained by the use of a volume tank and switching valve arrangement. These double acting types are compact, powerful and relatively inexpensive.
All units have simple 'O' ring pressure seals to reduce maintenance costs, and the adjustable end stops allow the end position to be externally adjusted in both open and closed position to ±5°. Provision has been made to allow either a pneumatic or electro-pneumatic positioner to be mounted with Namur mounting making it easier to convert for modulating duty. Torque outputs of 250 000 Nm have been achieved with double acting and 56 000 Nm for spring return units.
