Level detection of plastics

A new range of M30 capacitive level sensors has been introduced by IFM Electronic specifically designed for the plastic processing industry. The sensors meet IP 67 requirements and reliably detect a wide range of plastics irrespective of material, residual moisture and temperature. Due to intelligent microprocessor technology, even pre-dried granules can be reliably detected.

The KN5120 sensors provide high EMC immunity through noise-immune electronics, and due to their mechanical structure, they offer immunity to electrostatic discharges that occur when plastics are conveyed.

Automatic sensitivity adjustment to suit the medium is performed by pressing a pushbutton. The sensors' front faces are rated for temperatures up to 110°C and they can be mounted in direct contact with the sight glass.

A choice of a.c. or d.c. units is available and the universal switching output can be programmed to be either NC or NO. Two LEDs clearly indicate the status from a distance.
