Roadshow from KZN coast back to Secunda and the Vaal
August 2005
News
The Control Roadshow travelled along the industry-rich north coast of Natal in June. Rain in the middle of winter created some challenges for loading and unloading, however Richards Bay treated us very well and even the local folk commented on the great weather once the rain subsided.
Exposing all levels of end users to the rapidly evolving technologies has always been one of the prime reasons why these events are taken to within half an hour's drive of most engineers and technicians in the local community. Twenty-five supplier companies this year invested in delivering this information to Richards Bay and Stanger and consequently many trade secrets in the control, automation and measurement industry were shared throughout the day in Richards Bay. Stanger, unfortunately, did not need as much information and mostly stayed away, forcing us to limit the areas we visit in future. Exhibiting companies in this northern area included:
Adroit Technologies, Airtech Pneumatic, Anglo Allied Engineering, Autotech Weighing Systems, AWR Smith Process Instrumentation, Burkert Contromatic, Citect Africa, Eagle Technologies, Endress + Hauser, Extech SafetySystems, Industrial Automation & Control, Instrotech, Laser Measurement, Loadtech, Massamatic, OEN Enterprises, Protea Industrial, R&C Instrumentation, Temperature Controls, Tyco Valves and Controls, Yokogawa.
Secunda was the next event date on 21 July. As of writing this article the show had not yet taken place, however a large group of exhibitors were expected and the show also included a Control and Instrumentation conference hosted by the Vaal University of Technology.
On 6 and 7 September The Control Roadshow will join forces with the Vaal University of Technology to host a two-day event in the Vaal Triangle where various technical papers will be delivered on subjects relating to control and information technology. While exhibition bookings can be made via the Penmac website, (www.penmac.co.za) proposals for the delivery of technical papers and conference registrations should be booked via Mr At Roux at [email protected]. Conference times are 9h00 to 17h00 on 6 September.
