The Test & Measurement 2005 Conference and Exhibition is taking place on 5-7 September 2005 at Emperors Palace (formerly Caesars) close to Johannesburg International Airport).

There will be a diversity of papers and presentations that will be made this year. Those planning on attending are urged to visit the NLA website from time to time in order to keep abreast of any changes. The keynote address will be delivered by Dr Lynne Webber of Lancet Laboratories, a well-known figure in the medical pathology laboratory community. Streams will include legal metrology, traceability and uncertainty of measurement, accreditation, lab management, food safety and phytosanitary and process control.

A Gala Dinner will be held on Tuesday 6, 19h00 for 19h30 in order to celebrate the 25th year of this event. The venue is the NCC Room at Emperors Palace. The price is R120 per head. A guest speaker will be announced in due course and a number of important awards will also be made at this time. Organisations who wish to sponsor a table should contact the NLA Office in this regard and all who are interested are invited to attend.

Open exhibition

The Conference has broken from its previous tradition of only having a closed exhibition and this year for the first time will be making two days, the 6-7 September, open to the laboratory and measurement communities. Readers are advised that they are most welcome to attend; the only proviso is that they are requested to register either via the NLA website or by completing an Exhibition Registration Brochure which is being distributed with this publication. If the brochure is missing please contact the NLA office for further details. There will be no charge for only attending the Exhibition, but attendance at the Conference will be strictly limited to Registered Conference attendees only.
