Krohne believes that its new Optisound ultrasonic level gauge for tanks and open channels, has a convincing price/performance ratio. The sensor is suitable for level measurements in process and storage tanks, troughs and wastewater tanks, for level indication in bins and flow detection on conveyor belts. The measuring range is between 0,25 and 15 m, depending on model and medium. Three different sondes are available. Optisound is easy to install and replace and offers a measuring accuracy within ±10 mm.
Optisound 3010 and 3020 are suitable for operating pressures up to 200 kPa, Optisound 3030 for pressures up to 100 kPa. All devices are designed for an operating temperature range of -40 to +80°C. The process fittings are PVDF threaded connections, while a union flange or mounting bracket is available for Optisound 3030. The housing is made up of plastics, aluminium or stainless steel.
Optisound 3040 and 3050 for measuring particulate materials are also available with a remote signal converter, with threaded or flanged connection (only available in aluminium). All devices of the new ultrasonic level gauge family have a local indicator designed for operator control via pushbuttons, where bar graphs, trend displays or echo curves can be selected. The standard Optisound current output is 4 to 20 mA and has HART capability. The Optisound series will in future be available from Krohne with a number of ATEX approvals, and is supplied with class IP 66/68 protection.
