Compact flame monitors
July 2005
Temperature Measurement
Durag's D-LX 100 compact flame monitors are designed to monitor flames in single burner systems with continuous, intermittent and 72-hour operation. The flame monitors are claimed to be the first of their kind to meet current American and European flame monitoring standards.
Both the flame sensor and control unit are integrated into one compact housing, reducing overall cost and simplifying installation. Additional costs normally required for mounting the control electronics in a service cabinet or separate housing unit are no longer applicable.
Housed in IP 67 enclosures, the flame monitors are self-checking and fail safe, and LEDs indicate any fault condition. The D-LX 100 has a programmable flame recognition threshold and an analog output for flame intensity in the 0/4 to 20 mA range. An integrated relay output may be used to interface with the fuel control valve and the flame failure response time can be factory set to either 1, 3 or 5 seconds.
Included in the series are both ultraviolet and infrared flame monitors. Ultraviolet flame monitors can be used in monitoring gas and light oil combustion systems while infrared flame monitors are available for with use with yellow burning flames from coal or wood which have no or only very small portions of UV emissions. Typical applications range from small heating plants to process combustion systems.
