The Oldham EP1000A stack monitor is well received by various South African companies because of its unique features and stability. The Spero Group is the sole agent for Oldham (France).
Noteworthy features include:
* Easy installation with a sighting facility, and the IP65-related enclosure allows adequate protection against the elements.
* The EP1000A is able to operate on stacks with gas temperatures of up to
500°C.
* Measurement range is from 1 to 10 g/m³ in 10 user selectable ranges. A unique feature is the ability to program up to 10 separate processes.
* An optical calibrator is also available for periodic checking of the laser diode.
* Standard outputs include 4 to 20 mA, RS485 or RS422 protocol.
* An optional remote display and keyboard for easy control.
* Waterproof cabinet enables outside mounting with ambient temperature range: -25 to 55°C.
* Internal conversion from backscatter signal to output reading in mass/volume - mg/m³).
* Ventilation and a blowing mechanism integrated in the mantle prevents the optics from contamination by creating an over pressure on the optics - especially in chimneys with higher than atmospheric pressure.
* The use of an airflow detector triggers an alarm upon blower failure.
* An automatic internal zero check is done to ensure correct operation. No regular span check is required due to controlled optical output of the laser diode and optical sensor technology.
* A span check can be done from time to time with the use of an external optical calibration tool.
* Excellent signal linearity, especially at low concentrations.
* No drift in measurements with time.
* Relative insensitivity to water droplets.
Laser beam backscattering
The laser backscattering measurement principle ensures a linear response to dust concentrations over a wide range. Pointed into the dust-bearing gas stream, the laser beam is scattered by the dust particles back towards the instrument, providing a signal directly proportional to dust concentration.
Unique advantages
Linear responses to dust concentration provide accurate emissions monitoring over a wide range of dust concentrations. It requires only one isokinetic sample for accurate calibration. The instrument requires little maintenance and exhibits zero drift. The measurement technology is well adapted for large diameter stacks - up to 12 metres. Vibration does not affect performance and the standard display keyboard permits users to view measurements and internal instrument parameters and perform instrument set-up. An optional remote display keyboard is available.
COM1000 software is now available to monitor multiple instruments.
