Level Measurement & Control

New laser technology for level and distance

February 2005 Level Measurement & Control

Laser Measurement has produced another two models to exceed the capabilities of the currently successful product range.

The inventions of the research and development team have increased the product range capabilities to facilitate difficult applications, ie, crushers, with no hassles. These features have also given Laser Measurement the opportunity to widen its horizons to new and different industries such as food and beverage and petrochemical while still focusing on the mining industry and achieving positive results in many 'thought to be impossible' applications. One of the newest products is the LM80 Lasermeter.

This unit incorporates reliable software found on the current range of units with newly developed software to maximise the dust penetration capabilities. The new software makes the unit significantly faster and user-friendlier. Setup of this unit is made easier with simplified user menus and menu options.

The rugged unit with strong cast aluminium housing comes with improved features such as lightning and surge protection on both the power supply and signal lines. Two mechanical relays with operating voltages of 220 V a.c. or 60 V d.c. and an operating current of 1 A are standard features. This is an improvement on the older range, which incorporated two transistor switches instead of mechanical relays.

The LM80 is available in a 0,5 to 25 m level unit for short range applications such as crusher and bin levels, and a 0,5 to 150 m positioning unit for applications such as tripper cars, overhead cranes and stacker-reclaimers. Laser Measurement says that it is one of few companies that increase the performance and features of their products without jeopardising the price.
